Registered Dietitian & Team Beachbody Coach

For the past 12 years, I have worked as a registered dietitian. My profession has taken me to hospitals, doctor’s offices, corporations and schools. I have worked with individuals who had to lose weight, control their diabetes, manage their heart disease, among many, many other things. For the past 9 years, since having our first child, I have been a working mom and my children have essentially grown up in daycare settings. I was never really “stay-at-home-mom” material. Whatever THAT means. I have always been a social bug and thrived on being in my work environment and helping others. In fact, I loved it so much that my husband, Trey, would comment that he had never seen anyone love a job as much as I loved mine. I am definitely the type of person who is energized by other people, so the work setting seemed to work great for me.

While I have been 100% devoted to the education of my patients and clients, I have (over the past year) been moving towards wanting to be at home more for my family. I have never done my work for the money and I have always followed my passion. Now, my passion is my family. Seems weird to say that, somewhat implying that my family wasn’t my passion before. But, my work was what defined me. My work also dictated what I was able to do with my family and when I was able to do it.

When I went into business for myself, contracting for OB/GYN’s, I soon had a little boy going into kindergarten. For whatever reason, I had always told myself that when my kids started REAL school, I would be there to pick them up at 3pm. I put that on myself, no one else. I did whatever I had to do to make that work — overbook my schedule, skip lunch, etc. Eventually, I added a few bariatric surgeons and a diabetes center. Suddenly, the 3pm pick-up time was not realistic for the offices or the patients. I became stressed and maxed out. My husband and I decided that we would enroll the kids in an afterschool program so that I wouldn’t have to be “worried” about picking them up at 3pm. The reality of it all was that I WANTED to pick them up at 3pm. I wanted to be the first one to hear how their days went. I WANTED to be able to get home and make a home-cooked meal for my family.

In the midst of all of this, my husband, Trey, was in the throws of his physical makeover with P90X and we had both become Team Beachbody coaches. We were really loving everything that we did with the company and started contemplating how we were going to move our business forward. The time seemed right, not perfect, but right. So, we decided ultimately, that I would stay home with the kids starting in June 2011 and would work our Team Beachbody business FULL-TIME! The level of calm that came over me when we made this decision was indescribable. I felt…… complete. I would still get to help people change their lives, but I would be present for my family.

So, that summer began my life as a full-time Team Beachbody Coach. I ask that if you ever have any interest in getting healthy and fit to please get in touch with me via heather@educateyourplate.com or just check out my website at www.heatherreichert.com. Beachbody is the maker of programs such as P90X, Insantiy, Turbo Jam, and many, many more. They also have a wonderful nutritional called Shakeology and amazing on-line meal planning tools. I have never backed something that I didn’t believe in. Trey and I both believe in these products and the company that produces them. We are so happy to be moving into this new “season” of our lives.

While I hope that I inspire you to take a closer look at your health, more importantly, I hope that you take a closer look at what is important to you in your life and never be afraid to make a change.

“Be the change you wish to see
