The Back Story

I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two amazing children who fill our lives with excitement, ample learning opportunities and new adventures.  My journey with nutrition started my freshman year in college where I was fortunate enough to be in an Introduction to Nutrition class and found my calling, leading me to a career as a registered dietitian and diabetes educator (scroll down for my credentials).  It took some time for the fitness part to come along…  something like 15 years later.

After the birth of our youngest, I realized that it wasn’t quite as easy as it used to be to get back into the pre-pregnancy sizes… my hips weren’t the same, my stomach wasn’t the same, my face had become rounder…  I had become a little more “flexible” with my nutrition.  I was a mom of two, working full-time.  So, this is natural and expected, right?  On top of everything, I started having anxiety attacks.  I was putting myself last… like most moms do.   I had become a worried, short-tempered, overwhelmed, disempowered, scatter-brained mess inside.  I am fortunate enough to be married to a man that puts me at the center of his universe (and, yes, I know that to be true), so I had the support there, but I was just lost.

One Sunday morning, my husband decided to order P90X.  He had gained the pregnancy weight with me and had become out of shape as well.  He was ready to give this crazy “as seen on TV” thing a try.  Well, I could never have known that one Sunday morning could change the course of our lives.  After 90 days, he went from flabby to the absolute best shape of his life.  I was shocked!  He had a ton of energy, he looked 10 years younger, and I was having trouble keeping up with him!  P90X was his program, but I had trouble finding the program that was the perfect fit for me.  I wasn’t overweight.  I have been thin most of my life (with the exception of gaining 50 pounds with pregnancies).  I was at a point where I was what we refer to as “skinny fat”.  So, while my weight was great for my height, my body had no muscle tone.  I didn’t have high expectations of a program because I really didn’t think the results would be noticeable…  until the introduction of Les Mills PumpMy true fitness love! And, so the course of our lives continued toward fitness.  I managed to get into amazing shape using Beachbody programs.  I have a 6-pack now and I NEVER would have thought that would have been possible after two children.  But, more importantly, I had found a new purpose.  As a result of my regular working out, I became more confident, empowered, my anxiety was almost non-existent, my “creative juices” started flowing again…  I was a new and improved version of me!  Then, I realized how many other women in my life were looking for the same thing.  See my transformation story here.

Before March 2012– After June 2012

So, in 2012, I decided to leave my life as a “mainstream” consulting dietitian to spend my time as a coach, a Team Beachbody coach… motivating, inspiring, empowering, supporting and educating people all over the country.  I may not be able to change the world, but I know I can change someone’s world! Fortunately, my business allows me the flexibility to be available to my family on a regular basis. That is one of the things that I am superbly blessed with!

I enjoy playing tennis, riding bikes with my kids, taking relaxing walks, the occasional jog and, of course, Beachbody programs. My programs change regularly, so check out my Facebook page to see which one I am chomping on this month!

I am here to help you meet your health and fitness goals. I want you to succeed in every aspect of your life, so being a source of motivation is an important role that I take great honor in playing. I hope you will allow me the opportunity to join you in your journey!

Be the change. Change is good!
